The Crossing Dream

Intro

Movement 1

Verse 1

I stand where the living and dead collide,
Chaos behind me, peace on the tide.
The weeping of earth on the mortal shore,
But the water is still forevermore.
The mist is heavy, the air is cold,
A dream of a crossing for the brave and the bold.

Movement 2

Verse 2

Through the fog, the hollow prow appears,
Carrying the weight of a thousand years.
Ancient Charon holds out his hand,
For the silver price to leave this land.
I place the coin in his withered palm,
Trading the storm for the endless calm.

Movement 3

Chorus

Row, push through the shadowed deep,
Over the river of dreamless sleep.
The dark water ripples, the harp strings cry,
Beneath the dome of a starless sky.
Row, through the sorrow, row through the night,
Moving away from the fading light.

Movement 4

Bridge

I see the shores of the peaceful gray,
But a tether pulls my soul away.
I dream of the crossing, I long for the rest,
But the mortal breath beats in my chest.
It is not my time to step on the sand,
I must let go of the ferryman’s hand.

Movement 5

Outro

The oars fade out in the heavy mist,
A ghostly journey that can't exist.
I wake on the shore of the aching day,
But my heart remembers the river's way.
