Closed the Gate
Verse 1
He said, "I've got a plan, it’s the best you’ve ever seen"
Signed a little paper, made a giant messy scene
Now the narrow water's full of underwater mines
And the tankers are backed up in endless traffic lines
Thought he’d play some 4D chess across the ocean floor
Now we're paying twenty dollars at the corner store!
Pre-Chorus
Oh, lock up the sea lane, throw away the key
What a masterclass in geopolitical strategy!
Chorus
He dropped the mines and closed the gate!
Now we're paying for the brand-new war of state!
Every gallon of gas costs a gold bar now,
And the grocery bill is making everybody vow
'Cause he shut the strait down, blew up the trade,
And we're broke from the genius move he made!
Verse 2
Floating underwater like a deadly little surprise
Watch the oil prices rocket straight into the skies
Used to be a waterway, now it's bumper cars
While he's tweetin' from the fairway, shooting for the stars
"Nobody knew that the sea could be so tight!"
Yeah, tell that to the credit card bill tonight!
Bridge
Click-clack, boom-boom, floating in the bay
How much for a loaf of bread today?
One big standoff, a ocean full of metal
And a pile of dough we're never gonna settle!
Chorus
He dropped the mines and closed the gate!
Now we're paying for the brand-new war of state!
Every gallon of gas costs a gold bar now,
And the grocery bill is making everybody vow
'Cause he shut the strait down, blew up the trade,
And we're broke from the genius move he made!
Outro
Just keep rowing...
Forget the car.
Anybody got a spare million for gas?
"Great job everybody, real historical victory!"
